Bytesize Learning
Bytesize Learning is dedicated to helping learners achieve excellence in Computer Applications Technology (CAT) through clear, engaging, and curriculum-aligned learning resources. Built on a deep understanding of the IEB CAT SAGS document, our theory guide series is thoughtfully designed to support both educators and learners in Grades 10, 11, and 12.
Each section includes recap content for revision, acronym banks for quick reference, and hands-on activities that encourage active learning and meaningful practice. Updated annually to remain relevant and effective, Bytesize Learning aims to give every learner the confidence, skills, and knowledge needed to reach for a 100%—and empower educators with tools that make teaching CAT both easier and more impactful.
About the Author
Dana Berends
Dana Berends is an accomplished Computer Applications Technology educator with over eight years of experience guiding Matric learners to success. Recognized for her dedication and the exceptional results achieved by her students, she was awarded the Gauteng Department of Education’s Best CAT Teacher in the District, a testament to her commitment to excellence in the classroom.​ Dana holds a Bachelor of Commerce in Business Informatics, a cum laude Postgraduate Certificate in Education, and is a Certified Microsoft Office Expert. Her strong academic foundation, combined with her passion for learner development, has shaped her unique approach to teaching CAT with clarity, structure, and compassion.

The inspiration behind Bytesize Learning began when Dana noticed how overwhelmed many new CAT learners felt when entering the subject. Driven to change this, she developed theory guides that simplify complex concepts and support learners through proven, learner-centered tools. Her resources are designed to help students achieve their goals by breaking down information into manageable, meaningful pieces. Dana’s teaching philosophy is rooted in the belief that every learner is unique, learns differently, and carries the potential for greatness. With the right guidance, encouragement, and inspiration, she believes any learner can rise to meet, and exceed, their own expectations.
